There are two types of Tee used in piping, Equal / Straight Tee, and Reducing / Unequal Tee

Reducing tee is another type of pipe tee used in pipe and tube fittings. Pipe Tees are available two popular forms—have all outlets of the same size or they can be reducing tees in which they are with a combination of different outlet sizes.

Reducing tee, like all pipe tees, is in the shape of T with two ends of equal size and the third one slightly smaller. In other words, reducing tee is a type of pipe fitting in which the branch port size is smaller than the ports of the run. This type of pipe fitting can also consider size reduction from one of the run ports to the other.

 

1. What is ASTM A234 gr WPB tee?

ASTM A234 gr WPB tee is a type of carbon steel fitting used for Piping connection in all industrial plants such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemical etc. All ASTM A234 gr WPB tee, SA234 Grade WPB Pipe Reducing Tee, ASTM A234 WPB Barred Tee & ASTM A234 WPB Carbon Steel equal tees are produced from European sourced raw material at Neelcon Steel. We offer these ASTM A234 Wpb Tee in sizes 6”nb to 40”nb and thicknesses 5mm to 35mm. All Tee ASTM A234 Gr Wpb are manufactured from plate, pressed in two halves with three weld seams. We offer 100% radiography on all ASTM A234 Tee welds as standard.

Notes:

  • For each reduction of 0.01% below the specified C maximum, an increase of 0.06% Mn above the specified maximum will be permitted, up to a maximum of 1.35%.
  • The maximum carbon equivalent (C.E.) shall be 0.50, based on heat analysis and the formula C.E.=C+Mn/6+(Cr+Mo+V)/5+(Ni+Cu)/15.
  • The sum of Cu, Ni, Cr, and Mo shall not exceed 1.00%.
  • The sum of Cr and Mo shall not exceed 0.32%.

Where the wall thickness lies between two values above, the min elongation value is determined by the following equations:

  • Longitudinal E=48t+15.00
  • Transverse E=32t+10.00
  • E = elongation in 2in [50mm], %
  • t = actual thickness of specimen, in [mm]
