Hex bolts are also known as: hex head bolts, cap screws, hex cap screws, hex head cap screws, machine bolts, hex machine bolts, hex head machine bolts and, if fully threaded, tap bolts, hex tap bolts and hex head tap bolts. A hex bolt is often differentiated from a hex cap screw by its underhead bearing surface: if it has a circular boss, called a washer face, it’s a hex cap screw¡ªif it doesn’t then it’s a hex bolt.

316 / 316L Stainless Hex Socket Head Bolts are used in applications requiring high strength, toughness and machinability along with improved corrosion resistance. The alloy contains a higher percentage of molybdenum and nickel than grade 304 stainless steel, improving corrosion resistance, making it ideal for applications in corrosive environments. 316L stainless steel has a higher carbon content than 316 stainless steel, reducing its weldability.

Hastelloy C22 fasteners are a general-purpose grade composed of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and tungsten alloys. These designs are designed to increase resistance to pitting, stress corrosion cracking (SSC) and crevice corrosion cracking. Alloy C-22 has excellent resistance to a variety of chemical process environments, including strong oxidizing agents such as ferric and cupric chlorides, chlorine, hot fouling solutions (organic and inorganic), formic and acetic acid, acetic anhydride, and seawater and Brine solution. C-22 alloy resists the formation of grain boundary precipitates in the weld heat affected zone and is therefore suitable for most chemical process applications in as-welded conditions.

Inconel 600 Hex Bolts are a family of nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys for high strength and good corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures. The high nickel content makes Inconel 600 Heavy Duty Hex Bolts resistant to corrosion by many organic and inorganic compounds and virtually immune to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

Monel K500 Bolts, also known as Alloy K500, are composed of a nickel alloy that combines the excellent corrosion resistance of Monel 400 with increased strength and hardness. These additional properties of Monel K500 bolts are the result of an age hardening process in which aluminum and titanium are added to a nickel-copper matrix, which is then precipitated throughout. Compared to 400, this process increases the yield strength of K500 by a factor of approximately 3 (110ksi vs. 45ksi) and doubles the tensile strength (160ksi vs. 83ksi). Monel K500 bolts will maintain their strength down to 1200¡ãF and even maintain their ductility down to -400¡ãF.

It is a standard specification defining typical chemical composition, mechanical properties, hardness requirement, preferential heat treatment, product marking, certification and other requirements, suitable for bolting used in pressure vessel service, valves, flanges and fittings. AISI 904L threaded rods are further reduced to required lengths and chamfered as stud threaded rods when required to hold components such as flanges, valves, filters and other plumbing components together. Also, SS 904L threaded rod is a recommended austenitic alloy for functions where SS 316l or SS 317l cannot provide basic corrosion resistance.

ASTM A479 Super Duplex 2507 Hex Bolts combines high strength and good ductility with outstanding corrosion resistance qualities. The higher chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen contents in these ASME SA 479 Alloy 2507 Hex Bolts result in a Pitting Resistance Equivalent number (PREN) of >40.

ASTM A193 Grade B7 bolts are made of chrome-molybdenum material with high tensile strength and good elongation properties.

Alloy 2507 is highly resistant to carbide-related intergranular corrosion.

Fasteners are a well-known manufacturer of SS 309 bolts that can be easily welded by most standard processes, including TIG, SMAW, SAW, Plasma, MIG and FCAW. Alloy 309 bolts are commonly used in boiler baffles, oven liners, furnace components, fire box panels and other high temperature vessels.

ASTM A276 Type 309 is a material grade specification for cold-finished or hot-finished bars in 309 stainless steel, available in form of rounds, square, hexagons and other hot rolled extruded shapes. The ASTM A276 specification covers the chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat treatment, and other supplemental requirements for 310S stainless steel round, square, hexagonal, and other extruded profiles. Stainless Steel 310 Hex Bolts change the transition point between ferrite and austenite, alter solution and diffusion rates, and compete with other elements to form intermetallic compounds such as carbides and nitrides.

In S31803, about half of the ferrite grains transform into austenite grains (“islands”) as the material cools to room temperature. The result is a microstructure of approximately 50% austenite and 50% ferrite.

Nimonic 80A washers are made from a precipitation hardenable nickel and chromium alloy with the addition of aluminum and titanium. This is manufactured by sourcing the raw material of Nimonic 80A alloy (also known as Alloy 80A). The gasket has good corrosion and oxidation resistance. It is also known for its high tensile strength. Not only does it have creep rupture properties up to 1500¡ãF, that means 815¡ãC. Available in hot forging, cold forging and bar stock forms suitable for working conditions. This is available in a variety of sizes so it can be preferred based on requirements.

AL-6XN is an alloy that is an austenitic stainless steel. It is often referred to as a super austenitic stainless steel because it has several useful properties. One of the main benefits of using al6xn bolts is that it can be used in high temperatures. Meanwhile, AL6XN is a super austenitic alloy, and the most abundant element is iron. It is the most popular of the 6% molybdenum alloys. Common uses are in the food processing, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. It exhibits superior corrosion resistance compared to duplex alloys in most environments. Due to the lower nickel content, AL6XN fasteners are generally more economical than high nickel alloy fasteners.

Hastelloy c22 fasteners are also resistant to wear in high temperature atmospheres and corrosive environments. Some of the environments in which these fasteners exhibit resistance are oxidizing media, reducing media, chloride environments, and sulfur environments. They are resistant to attack by chemicals such as nitric acid, chlorine, sulfur, acetic acid, organic, inorganic, phosphorus, etc.

Alloy 825 bolts have good mechanical properties from low temperatures to moderately high temperatures up to about 1000¡ãF. Microstructural changes that significantly reduce ductility and impact strength occur when used at temperatures above 1000¡ãF.

The greatest advantage of Hastelloy B3 bolts compared to B-2 alloys is their ability to maintain excellent ductility during transient exposure to intermediate temperatures.

Alloy 31 is a nitrogen-containing iron-nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with properties intermediate between super austenitic stainless steels and nickel-based alloys, with the presence of copper increasing its resistance to sulfuric acid. This alloy is used in the chemical and petrochemical processing industries. Alloy tubes are cold worked to high strength levels and are suitable for downhole operations in moderately corrosive deep sour gas wells.
