Nickel Alloy 400 and Monel 400, also known as UNS N04400, is a ductile nickel-copper-based alloy consisting primarily of two-thirds nickel and one-third copper. Nickel Alloy 400 is known for its resistance to a variety of corrosive conditions, including alkalis (or acids), salt water, hydrofluoric acid, and sulfuric acid. Since Monel 400 or Alloy 400 is a cold worked metal, this alloy has high hardness, stiffness and strength. By cold working ASTM B164 UNS N04400 bar stock, the alloy is subjected to higher levels of mechanical stress, which in turn causes changes in the alloy’s microstructure.

It demonstrates good resistance to neutral and reducing environments. This alloy creates a tenacious oxide, protective film that does not spall off, but it retains superior oxidation resistance at soaring temperatures.

Alloy C276 is a Ni-Cr-Mo alloy containing W and very low carbon and Si content.

Alloy K500 is refined by Electroslag Refining (ESR), ensuring the cleanest and highest quality material. This increased alloy purity limits the potential for hard non-metallic inclusions that can increase machining difficulty, machining time and ultimately lead to part failure. It also has low permeability and is non-magnetic at temperatures as low as -150¡ãF (-101¡ãC).

The steel has excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, high thermal conductivity and a low coefficient of thermal expansion. The high chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen levels provide excellent resistance to pitting, crevice, and general corrosion.

Heat treatment the ASTM A105 Fittings is not a mandatory requirement. Although there is an exception for flanges that have an ASTM A105 Fitting Pressure Rating above Class 300. These are flanges of special design, wherein both the design pressure or the design temperature are not known as well as for items over 4 inches NPS and above Class 300. Heat treatment is required, when methods such as normalizing, annealing, normalize and temper, normalize and quench and tempering must be applied.

UNS S32750 ( F53 / 1.4410 / Alloy 2507) has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion and higher thermal conductivity than austenitic steel, and is suitable for operating temperatures up to 300 ℃.
