Monel K500 Fasteners are thermally applied or manipulated to affect precipitation. This process is called age hardening. Alloy 20 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum stainless steel alloy developed for applications involving sulfuric acid. Alloy 20 resists pitting and chloride corrosion, and its copper content protects it from sulfuric acid. Alloy 20 is not SS, but a nickel alloy (ASTM).

Inconel 926 bolt material meets ASTM B446, B564, F467, F468, UNS N06926, DIN EN 2.4856, AMS 5666 and BS 3076 specifications and is adequate for high strength, corrosion resistance and high temperature applications up to 1000o C (1800o F).

Hastelloy B2 studs have poor corrosion resistance to oxidizing environments and are therefore not recommended for use in oxidizing media or in the presence of iron or copper salts as they may cause rapid premature corrosion failure.

Monel K500 Bolts, also known as Alloy K500, are composed of a nickel alloy that combines the excellent corrosion resistance of Monel 400 with increased strength and hardness. These additional properties of Monel K500 bolts are the result of an age hardening process in which aluminum and titanium are added to a nickel-copper matrix, which is then precipitated throughout. Compared to 400, this process increases the yield strength of K500 by a factor of approximately 3 (110ksi vs. 45ksi) and doubles the tensile strength (160ksi vs. 83ksi). Monel K500 bolts will maintain their strength down to 1200¡ãF and even maintain their ductility down to -400¡ãF.

Alloy 600 also has excellent mechanical properties with high strength and good machinability.
