Inconel 600 round bar is a nickel-based alloy with benign carburization and excellent corrosion resistance at high temperatures. INCONEL 718 alloy was primarily chosen by design engineers for its high strength in extreme temperature conditions at both ends of the spectrum. Inconel 601 fasteners are designed to withstand severe corrosion and high temperature exposure. These fasteners contain nickel and chromium alloys for excellent corrosion, heat and oxidation resistance. Nickel content retains ductility and high temperature strength after prolonged use. Fasteners of this grade produce a tightly adherent scale that resists spalling under severe thermal cycling conditions.

Annealing softening begins at approximately 1600¡ãF (871¡ãC) and is fairly complete after 10 to 15 minutes of heating at 1800¡ãF (982¡ãC). Above this temperature, grain growth can be objectionable, although very brief heating at 1900¡ãF will result in complete softening without excessive grain growth. Since the cooling rate has no effect on softening, the material can be water quenched or air cooled.

Inconel 601 has good resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Due to the control of carbon content and grain size, 601 has high creep rupture strength, so it is recommended to use 601 in the field above 500 ¡ãC.
