ASTM A182 Grade F51 is the standard duplex stainless steel and is also called ¡°duplex 2205¡± or ¡°alloy 2205¡±.

Duplex 2205 flanges have a ductile to brittle transition at -50¡ãC and also become brittle at 300-1000¡ãC, so the recommended service temperature is -50¡ãC to 300¡ãC. Exposure to above 300¡ãC will not only cause embrittlement of the 2205 flange, but will also reduce corrosion resistance.

Some dual-phase steel S31803 butt weld flanges have good oxidation resistance at high temperatures, but tend to become brittle at temperatures above 300 degrees Celsius, and only 2 hours exposure to 475 degrees Celsius. These dual phase steel S32205 ring joint flanges also feature high corrosion and erosion fatigue performance as well as lower thermal expansion and higher thermal conductivity than certified.
