The ASTM A182 F51 flanges refer to standard or non-standard flanges manufactured in accordance with ASTM A182 Grade F51, which is designated with UNS number S31803.

This category of material includes grades 2205, F51, F53, and F60. Duplex stainless has increased in popularity over the years due to its excellent chemical and mechanical properties versus their basic stainless counterparts, given especially that the cost differences are minimal now as the availability has increased.

2507 has high resistance to stress corrosion cracking (especially chloride stress corrosion cracking), high energy absorption, high strength, and erosion. Essentially, and the Duplex alloys are a compromise.

2101 is a low nickel, lean duplex stainless steel possessing both superior strength and chloride stress-corrosion cracking resistance when compared to 300 series stainless steel.

Duplex2205 washers are dual phase austentic-ferritic duplex fasteners manufactured from alloy containing chromium, nickel alloy and molybdenum with restricted carbon content and minimum PREN35, SAF2205 fasteners have excellent corrosion resistance and high strength.

It is a super duplex alloy, so heat resistance is also what Super Duplex 2507 rods are capable of. River or sea water often contains highly corrosive chemicals containing sulfur or chloride ions, and materials such as the 2507 Super Duplex Round Bar can withstand these chemicals.

2205 Duplex nuts are the most widely used duplex stainless steel 2205 fasteners and feature a high yield strength that is twice that of standard austenitic stainless grades.

In duplex steels, the duplex microstructure has the high strength of ferritic grades while retaining the corrosion resistance of austenitic grades. It is not uncommon to use this metal as a practical solution to chloride-induced stress cracking, the Achilles heel of stainless steel.

Duplex stainless steel 2205 alloy is a compound stainless steel composed of 22% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum and 4.5% nickel nitrogen alloy.
It has high strength, good impact toughness and good overall and local stress corrosion resistance.

The standard duplex material consists of 22% chromium, 4.5% nickel, 3% molybdenum, manganese, silicon, nitrogen, phosphorus, carbon and sulfur. Duplex 2205 screws and other fasteners have minimum yield strengths up to 97ksi and minimum tensile strengths up to 131ksi. Duplex 2205 hex bolts are nearly twice as strong as austenitic grade steel bolts. They have higher mechanical properties, so 1.4462 alloy 2205 studs and other types of bolts can meet different specifications such as ASME SA 182, 240, 479, 789.

2507 (PREN 40-45), with 25-26 Cr and increased Mo and N compared with the 25Cr grades. A super austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel with exceptional strength and corrosion resistance ideal for chemical process, petrochemical, and seawater applications.

The combination of the ferritic phase and austenitic phase provides both high strength and excellent corrosion resistance.

Austenitic has a low strength and a low resistance to stress corrosion cracking, while ferritic also has a low strength, poor weldability and poor low temperature toughness. Producing a chemical composition that combines austenitic and ferritic results in a metal that has a higher strength, good weldability, good toughness and resistance to stress corrosion cracking.

Duplex stainless steels have a microstructure which is 50% ferritic and 50% austenitic. This composition gives them a better strength than either ferritic or austenitic steels. Further details about this topic are given below (see ASTM A790 pipes).

The SA 182-F51 S31803 comes under ASME B16.47, B16.48 and B16.5 standards with sizes ranging from 1/8 NB to 48NB.

The properties of S31803 nuts are even double those of standard austenitic grades.

2507 is used for Chemical process industries, heat exchangers, vessels, and piping, desalination plants, high pressure RO-plant and seawater piping, mechanical and structural components, high strength, corrosion-resistant parts.

Duplex 1.4462 round bars also have low thermal expansion and high thermal conductivity as well as high corrosion and erosion fatigue properties compared to austenite. The corrosion resistance of duplex 2205 is almost twice that of other austenitic stainless steels.

2507 has a higher chromium and molybdenum content which gives the super duplex greater corrosion resistance than other standard duplex grades.
