Nickel Alloy 400 and Monel 400, also known as UNS N04400, is a ductile nickel-copper-based alloy consisting primarily of two-thirds nickel and one-third copper. Nickel Alloy 400 is known for its resistance to a variety of corrosive conditions, including alkalis (or acids), salt water, hydrofluoric acid, and sulfuric acid. ASTM A403 WP317L is a molybdenum bearing, low carbon content “L” grade austenitic stainless steel that provides improved corrosion resistance over 304L and 316L stainless steels. The low carbon provides resistance to sensitization during welding and other thermal processes.

The carbon content in the Sa182 F9 flange is lower, so the weldability of this alloy is much better. Generally, higher carbon content in alloys promotes intergranular corrosion, especially during high heat treatments such as welding.

The blind flanges are used to terminate a pipeline. Most of the times, a blind flange is used to permanently close a connection. SS 316L, the low carbon version of SS 316 and is immune from sensitisation (grain boundary carbide precipitation).

316L is best known among manufacturers for crack resistance after the welding process is complete. This makes the 316L the first choice for manufacturers looking to build metal structures for industrial applications.

Alloy 347 stainless steel plate exhibits good general corrosion resistance that is comparable to 304.

The alloy is forged between 2250/1750oF (1230/955oC) and then soaked at the forging temperature for 30 minutes per inch of billet or ingot section thickness. Forging should begin immediately, the billet is removed from the reheat furnace, a 25/40% reduction helps retain as much internal heat as possible. For optimum corrosion resistance, forged parts should be subsequently annealed. See Heat Treatment.

Stainless Steel 316 is an austenitic grade designed with excellent nickel and chromium content.
