Since these plates are to be worked at high temperatures and pressure environment therefore the elements included in it matters a lot. Grade B7 is a heat treated chromium molybdenum low alloy steel with a minimum tensile strength requirement of 125 ksi (860 Mpa), a yield strength of 105 ksi (720 Mpa) and a maximum hardness of 35HRC. The a182 f9 material contains a certain amount of chromium and molybdenum, both of which contribute to a longer service life and therefore longer life.

Grades 7, 7M, 8 and 8M have 8-10% nickel added. Grade 8 material lacks molybdenum, but Grade 8M ASTM A194 2h material contains all the elements mentioned in the composition, making it the strongest and most expensive class of materials in this grade.
