UNS N08031 Nut is a nitrogen-added iron-nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy. Also known as WNR 1.4562 Nuts, its pitting resistance in high chloride environments is between super-austenitic stainless steels and nickel alloys. The alloy has very good corrosion resistance in mixed acid and high chloride environments. Typical applications for these nuts are control lines, heat exchangers, control and instrumentation pipes, etc. Industries that primarily use this grade are chemical processing, oil and gas, etc.

Inconel 718 alloy is also used in industries such as oil and gas drilling and production due to its high tensile strength and good corrosion resistance to chloride-related stress cracking and sulfide-related stress cracking. One of the most widely used general purpose grades of hardenable Inconel alloys, Inconel 718 contains chromium-nickel with minor additions of aluminum and titanium.

Although the welding characteristics of Inconel 718, especially its resistance to post-weld cracking tend to be outstanding. Similar to other Inconel alloy grades, Inconel 718 plate forms a binder on its surface when the material is heated, but self-repairs the passivating oxide layer. The room temperature strength of ASTM B670 Inconel 718 sheet can be significantly increased using a precipitation heat treatment method.

This grade has an excellent chemical combination of nickel, chromium alloys with high levels of iron, niobium and molybdenum and small amounts of aluminum and titanium.

Due to the solid solution effect of refractory metals, it has excellent toughness and strength in the temperature range from low temperature to 2000¡ãC (1093¡ãC). This Inconel grade can withstand stress cracking up to 1200¡ãC (649¡ãC) and is resistant to oxidation and oxidation up to 2000¡ãC.
