Typical corrosion applications include titanium dioxide production (chloride route), perchlorethylene syntheses, vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), and magnesium chloride.

As a corrosion resistant alloy, Monel 400 can withstand high temperature steam environments and fast flowing brackish/seawater, while maintaining excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking in most fresh waters.

The number of welds on a spool must be kept in a minimum count. The dimension of the spacing between circumferential welds and the center lines must not be larger than the four times the wall thickness of the pipe or fitting. After the main welds, tacks welds must be done precisely. All welds in the spools must be implemented according to proper Welding Procedure Specification (WPS). After the welding process is done, quality control of the components is performed by the specialists.

The addition of copper to this grade gives it better corrosion resistance than conventional chromium-nickel stainless steels, especially against sulfuric, phosphoric and acetic acids. However, the use of hydrochloric acid is limited.

Pipe spools are pre-shaped to make easier assemble using hoists, gauges and other tools for joining the parts. Pipe spools unite long pipes with flanges from the end of the long pipes so they can be bolted with each other with matching flanges.

Little or no attack occurs at room and elevated temperatures in dry gases, such as chlorine or hydrogen chloride. At temperatures up to 550C in these media, this alloy has been shown to be one of the most resistant of the common alloys.

Hastelloy B2 prevents the formation of grain boundary carbide precipitates in the weld heat affected zone, making it suitable for most chemical process applications in the as-welded condition. The heat affected weld zone reduces the precipitation of carbides and other phases to ensure uniform corrosion resistance.
Alloy B2 also has excellent resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking.

Alloy 347 stainless steel plate cannot be hardened by heat treatment, only by cold working.

Raw pipes are cut to the required sizes and moved with pipe fittings to a fitting table, where some of the components are fitted together (i.e. temporarily connected). The resulting sub-assembly (part of the final pipe spool) continues with welding operations (i.e. permanent connected) before it comes back to the fitting table and gets fitted with other spool components.

Alloy 254 SMO is a high end, molybdenum and nitrogen alloyed super austenitic stainless steel with low carbon content.

Alloy 347H (UNS S3409) stainless steel plate is the higher carbon (0.04 ¨C 0.10) version of the alloy.

316 stainless steel has more carbon in it than 316L. This is easy to remember, as the L stands for “low.”

At elevated temperatures the annealed and solution annealed alloy shows good resistance to scaling and has high strength.

Alloy K500 is refined by Electroslag Refining (ESR), ensuring the cleanest and highest quality material. This increased alloy purity limits the potential for hard non-metallic inclusions that can increase machining difficulty, machining time and ultimately lead to part failure. It also has low permeability and is non-magnetic at temperatures as low as -150¡ãF (-101¡ãC).

The Alloy 800 series (Incoloy 800, 800H and 800HT) are nickel-iron-chromium superalloys that provide high temperature strength and resistance to oxidation, carburization and other types of high temperature corrosion. Alloy 800 (UNS N08800), Alloy 800H (UNS N08810) and Alloy 800HT (UNS N08811) have the same nickel, chromium and iron content, except for the total titanium and aluminium content (0.85 to 1.2%) to ensure optimum high temperature performance.

The butt welded tees can maintain a straight flow or reducing flow which depends on the ordered pipeline system. The reducing branches (reducing tees) make a perpendicular connection with the mainline. The radiuses of the tees are usually smaller than the main flow line. The radiuses of the straight tees are produced in a way that has similar radiuses with the main flow line.

Under alternating oxidizing and reducing conditions the alloy may suffer from selectiveo xidation.

Overcoming the impact of downtime caused by corrosion, stress and extreme temperatures, and the cost impact of failure rates and safety has driven the industry to look for materials like Monel 400, which provide increased reliability in harsh conditions.

Hastelloy C-276 is easily fabricated by welding, using methods similar to those used for nickel-based alloys.

Incoloy 800/800H/800HT are solid solution nickel chromium iron alloys with small additions of aluminium and titanium to improve corrosion and oxidation resistance.

Alloy 400/Monel 400 comes directly from refined ore bodies in Canada, and with a copper content of approximately 30 wt%, it provides a lower cost alternative to commercially pure nickel, but still retains a very similar characteristics.

Pipe spools are produced by the usage of raw pipes and pipe fittings. The cutting process of the raw pipes is done with prespecified sizes that are suitable for the pipe fittings and other components.

Alloy B2 is a highly resistant material to most organic and inorganic acids. It is a reduction resistant material.
