Hastelloy C22 fasteners are a general-purpose grade composed of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and tungsten alloys. Alloy C-22 has excellent resistance to a variety of chemical process environments, including strong oxidizing agents such as ferric and cupric chlorides, chlorine, hot fouling solutions (organic and inorganic), formic and acetic acid, acetic anhydride, and seawater and Brine solution. C-22 alloy resists the formation of grain boundary precipitates in the weld heat affected zone and is therefore suitable for most chemical process applications in as-welded conditions.

Hastelloy C-4 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with outstanding high temperature stability. It has high ductility and corrosion resistance. It’s high temperature resistance up to 1900 ¡ãF (1038 ¡ãC) makes it suitable for most chemical process application in the “as” welded condition.
Like other nickel alloys, it is ductile, easy to form and weld, and possesses exceptional resistance to stress corrosion cracking in chloride-bearing solutions (a form of degradation to
which the austenitic stainless steels are prone). With its high chromium and molybdenum
contents, it is able to withstand both oxidizing and non-oxidizing acids, and is resistant to
pitting and crevice attack in the presence of chlorides and other halides.

Available in various forms, the material is known to be very versatile. The basic chemical makeup of a Hastelloy C276 seamless Pipe includes Nickel, chromium, and molybdenum in its alloy. The trio elements in this wrought alloy are what gives the Hastelloy C276 welded Pipe its high mechanical properties in addition to its excellent corrosion resistance properties.

Hastelloy B3 fasteners are an excellent choice for bolting applications in chemical processing units because the alloy has excellent resistance to hydrochloric and sulfuric acids, while maintaining mechanical strength at elevated temperatures. Although HASTELLOY X pipe bend is primarily noted for heat and oxidation resistance it also has good resistance to chloride stress-corrosion cracking and has good resistance to carburization, excellent resistance to reducing or carburizing atmospheres.

Hastelloy B3 fasteners offer the same excellent resistance to hydrochloric acid and other strong reducing chemicals as other B alloys, including B2, but with significantly enhanced thermal stability and easier fabrication. In addition, B3 fasteners are highly resistant to attack from cut lines and heat affected zones. Like B2 alloys, B3 fasteners are not recommended for use in the presence of iron or copper salts that can cause rapid corrosion failure.
