Other than carbon, these contain in them substantial quantities of nickel, manganese, chromium, silicon, tungsten, vanadium, molybdenum.

It exhibits exceptional corrosion resistance in chemical environments containing phosphoric acid, nitric acid, chlorides and sulfuric acid. It also has good mechanical properties at both ambient and elevated temperatures.

The chromium content in the A335 p9 pipe makes it highly resistant to corrosion. Therefore, A335 p9 has excellent high temperature oxidation resistance. In addition to chrome, Astm A335 p9 alloy steel pipe coated with black paint or anti-corrosion oil shows good corrosion resistance. It can also be galvanized with zinc. Galvanizing increases its resistance to atmospheric corrosion.

Chrome molybdenum grades P11, P22, P91 and P92 are used in the power industry. Chromium molybdenum grades P5 and P9 are used in petrochemical refining processes. Chrome molybdenum forged fittings and flanges are available in grades F5, F9, F11, F22, F91, F92. A182 F5 material is an excellent alloy that is hardened only by cold working. It is often used in nuclear energy, medical equipment, chemical energy, etc. These ASTM A182 Grade F5 Flanges gives extraordinary erosion resistance in, for instance, caustic and acidic applications which includes sulphuric and higher chloride environments.

The carbon content in the Sa182 F9 flange is lower, so the weldability of this alloy is much better. Generally, higher carbon content in alloys promotes intergranular corrosion, especially during high heat treatments such as welding.

In addition to good corrosion resistance, the addition of chromium and molybdenum to the alloy enhances its ductility.

ASTM A194 2h nuts are available in nominal sizes ranging from ?” to 4″. These products are made with heavy duty hex nuts with different proof load stresses for regular nuts and zinc plated nuts. A194 2h coupling nut with 175ksi plain nut and 150ksi zinc plated nut. Fasteners of this grade of material also have high hardness.

After hot working, forgings should be cooled to a temperature below 1000¡ãF (538¡ãC) prior to heat treatment in accordance with ASTM A182. Low alloy steels and ferritic and martensitic stainless steels shall be heat treated in accordance with ASTM A182.
