Low alloy steels contain trace amounts of alloying agents such as niobium, nitrogen, vanadium, copper, nickel, chromium, titanium, calcium, molybdenum, rare earth elements or zirconium.

The low alloy steel pipe flanges also tend to provide better mechanical properties as opposed to many conventional, standard mild or carbon steels.

Alloy 20 (Alloy 20) is an iron-based austenitic alloy developed to resist sulfuric acid corrosion.
