ASTM A333 is a standard specification for seamless and welded carbon and alloy steel pipes for low temperature service or other applications requiring notch toughness. This standard covers several grades of ferritic steels: Grade, Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 6, Grade 7, Grade 8, Grade 9, Grade 10 and Grade 11. Metals-Piping offers welding processes by seamless or no filler metal added in the welding operation, but Grade 4 shall be manufactured by seamless processes only. When the carbon content of the a333 gr 6 welded pipe chemistry is lower, the chance of cracking in the welded area is also lower. However, some manufacturers prefer seamless pipes over welded pipes. Grade B7 is a heat treated chromium molybdenum low alloy steel with a minimum tensile strength requirement of 125 ksi (860 Mpa), a yield strength of 105 ksi (720 Mpa) and a maximum hardness of 35HRC. Boltport produces B7 headed and headless bolts from alloy steel AISI 4140 bar stock or forgings. A193 Grade B7 is the most commonly used bolting size, plus A194 Grade 2H nuts are used for bolting carbon steel pipe.
