Inconel 825 fasteners have excellent resistance to both reducing and oxidizing acids in addition to general corrosion. These Incoloy 825 fasteners also resist stress-related corrosion cracking, localized corrosion such as pitting and crevice corrosion. Incoloy 825 is particularly resistant to acids such as sulfuric and phosphoric acid. Austenitic stabilizing elements such as nickel, one of the main alloying agents for nickel alloy 825 hex bolts, remain unchanged even in high temperature environments. Since the structure remains unchanged, the DIN 2.4858 studs are less likely to deform.

Typical applications of Inconel 800 include the food and beverage industry, in addition to being used for heat treatment components.

Inconel 800 forms a thick yet stable oxide layer. This thick layer is known to protect the outer surface of the Inconel 800 component from further attack.

For service requiring optimum creep and rupture properties, Incoloy 800H or 800 HT are used. The high contents of nickel and chromium in the alloys also give good corrosion resistance.

For applications requiring higher resistance to stress rupture and creep, especially above 1500¡ãF (816¡ãC), use INCOLOY Alloys 800H and 800HT.

Typical applications for the alloy include ethylene pyrolysis, hydrocarbon cracking, cracking furnaces for vinyl chloride, diphenol and acetic acid. The alloy is also used for valves, fittings and other components exposed to corrosive attack from 1100 to 1800 deg F.

In addition to oxidation, the metal is also resistant to the effects of carburization. As an austenitic stainless steel type, this alloy has some temperature limitations, but has the advantage of varying the carbon content.

ASTM B472 UNS N08020 Flanges Alloy 20 flanges provide good performance in hot sulfuric acid, specifically they offer good resistance to stress-corrosion cracking in boiling sulfuric acid at specific range of 20% to 40% concentration, as well as general sulfuric acid resistance.

High creep strength is attained through control over crystal grains¡ªvia high temperature heat treatment, together with fine control over carbon, titanium, and aluminum content.

Both materials remain available, subject to commercial considerations, and certain specifications which restrict the service temperature of some grades of INCOLOY alloy 800H.

The chemical balance allows the alloy to exhibit excellent resistance to carburization, oxidation and nitriding atmospheres. 800HT will not become embrittled even after long periods of usage in the 1200-1600 deg F range where many stainless steels become brittle. Excellent cold forming characteristics typically associated with the nickel-chromium alloys are exhibited with 800HT. When cold formed extensively the grain size produces a visibly undulated surface called “orange peel”. 800HT can be welded by the common techniques used on stainless steels.
