For resistance to pitting corrosion and chloride corrosion, stress corrosion cracking problems, etc., alloy 20 is often used.

Grade P11 is known as chrome molybdenum alloy steel. Compared to carbon steel, the properties of this alloy steel are much higher. Typically, alloy steels such as ASTM A335 P11 pipe tend to have much higher element percentages than conventional steels. So take their efficiency to the next level. The alloy composition of the P11 grade consists of chromium and molybdenum, with a chromium percentage of approximately 1.25. After hot working, forgings should be cooled to a temperature below 1000¡ãF (538¡ãC) prior to heat treatment in accordance with ASTM A182. Low alloy steels and ferritic and martensitic stainless steels shall be heat treated in accordance with ASTM A182.
