Because of the content, in terms of quantity of chromium present in the alloy of this grade, this stainless steel is also referred to as 22cr Duplex 2205 Pipe.

They also have excellent resistance to corrosion cracking and localized corrosion such as pitting, intergranular and crevice. Unlike other standard austenitic steels, UNS S31803 steel has excellent magnetic properties.

The steel has excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, high thermal conductivity and a low coefficient of thermal expansion. The high chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen levels provide excellent resistance to pitting, crevice, and general corrosion.

Preheating of UNS S32750 Super Duplex Fasteners is not necessary except to prevent condensation on cold metal.

Designers may have the option to reduce the wall thickness of the duplex 2205 welded pipe, because of its high yield strength. The yield strength of this material is almost two times that of the usually used austenitic stainless steel grade. Unlike austenitic steel pipe, the Duplex 2205 Tube may at times exhibit magnetic behavior because the microstructure of its alloy contains about 50% ferrite.

Super Duplex UNS S32760 is one of the most common super duplex grades on the market. UNS S32760 is a duplex stainless steel designed for use in corrosive chlorine-containing environments, with the addition of W and Cu compared to UNS S32750.

Duplex 2507 possesses excellent mechanical properties. Often a light gauge of 2507 material can be used to achieve the same design strength of a thicker nickel alloy.

Alloy 2507 has 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel. This high molybdenum, chromium and nitrogen content results in excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion attack and the duplex structure provides 2507 with exceptional resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

ASTM A815 specification covers two general classes, WP and CR, of wrought ferritic, ferritic/austenitic, and martensitic stainless steel fittings of seamless and welded construction. Class WP fittings are subdivided into four subclasses: Classes WP-S, WP-W, WP-WX, and WP-WU. The material for fittings shall consist of forgings, bars, plates, or seamless or welded tubular products.

Duplex 2205 stainless steels are called “duplex” because they have a two-phase microstructure consisting of ferritic and austenitic stainless steel grains. When duplex stainless steel melts, it solidifies from the liquid phase to a fully ferritic structure. As the material cools to room temperature, about half of the ferrite grains transform into austenite grains (“islands”). The result is a microstructure of approximately 50% austenite and 50% ferrite.

Duplex 2205 flanges offer good sulfide corrosion resistance, as well as chloride pitting and crevice corrosion resistant superior to 317L.

Duplex 2507 (UNS S32750) is a super duplex stainless steel with 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel designed for demanding applications which require exceptional strength and corrosion resistance, such as chemical process, petrochemical, and seawater equipment.

The inclusion of chromium imparts good corrosion resistance to austenitic grade 304. However, increasing the chromium content to about 25%, as in the case of 2205 duplex stainless steel pipe makes the alloy resilient across several media.

The flange is second most used joining method after selding. Flanges are used when joints need dismantling. It provides flexibility for maintenance. Flange connects the pipe with various equipment and valves. Breakup flanges are added in the pipeline system if regular maintenance in required during plant operation.
A flanged joint is composed of three separate and independent although interrdlated components; the flanges, the gaskets, and the bolting; which are assembled by yet another influence, the fitter. Special controls are required in the selection and application of all there elements to attain a joint, which has acceptable leak tightness.

Duplex alloys have some of the ferritic stress corrosion cracking resistance of common austenitic stainless alloys and many of the superior formability properties that are more cost effective than high nickel alloys.

Thread friction between the nut and bolt creates a strong, steady and even force holding the componenuts together. The most commonly used ASTM A182 UNS S32205 fastener nuts are regular hex nuts. At the same time, duplex stainless steel fasteners are strong and corrosion resistanut, combining the healthy properties of ferrite and austenite. The material also has a 90ksi minimum tensile strength and a 65ksi minimum yield strength. 2205 duplex stainless steel bolts have an elongation of 25% and a hardness of 217HBW.

Its impact strength or hardness properties inherited from the ferritic side make 2507 stainless steel round bar suitable for structural applications including bridge construction and more.

Some of the advantages of using super duplex fasteners include its physical and excellent mechanical properties such as high yield strength, excellent tensile strength, high impact strength and excellent corrosion resistance.

Compared with ferritic stainless steel and austenitic stainless steel, duplex stainless steel pipe has good welding performance. It is neither like the welding heat affected zone of ferritic stainless steel, because of the grain coarsening, the plastic toughness is greatly reduced, nor like austenitic stainless steel, it is more sensitive to welding hot cracks.

If the 22cr Duplex Pipe is to be welded, no filler metal is required to be added to the alloy during its welding process.

2205 stainless steel sheet has high tensile stress and low thermal expansion and can be used in cargo holds, trucks and ships as sheet.

UNS S32750 ( F53 / 1.4410 / Alloy 2507) has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion and higher thermal conductivity than austenitic steel, and is suitable for operating temperatures up to 300 ℃.

UNS S32205 Hex Bolts (also known as S31803) are made of high grade duplex 2205 stainless steel. Because this material is composed of at least 22% chromium, 6% nickel, and 3% molybdenum, it can withstand some of the harsh environmental conditions that other metals cannot, such as corrosion, cracking, erosion, pitting, and more. Stainless Duplex 2205 Hex Bolts also provide twice the mechanical strength compared to standard stainless steel.

Alloy 2205 Pipe has a melting point of 1350 degrees C. These pipes have a wall thickness between 0.3mm to 50mm.
