S32750 (2507) is a duplex stainless steel that combines many of the excellent properties of ferritic and austenitic steels. Due to its high chromium and molybdenum content, it exhibits excellent resistance to pitting, crevice and uniform corrosion. The two-phase microstructure ensures that the steel has high resistance to stress corrosion cracking and high mechanical strength. In addition, it also has the characteristics of strong resistance to chloride pitting, high thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion coefficient.

316 stainless steel has a similar chemical composition to 304, but also contains molybdenum. This addition makes it more resistant to corrosion. Like 304, the 316 formulation does not require post weld annealing. 316L stainless steel is almost the same as 316. The only difference is the carbon content. The low carbon content of 316L imparts better corrosion resistance than 316. 316L does not require post weld annealing.

Stainless steel Grade 254 SMO Flanges is quite tough to machine due to the extremely high work hardening rate and lack of sulfur content; however using sharp tools, overpowered machine tools, positive feeds, good amount of lubrication, and slow speeds tend to provide good machining results.

UNS S31254 is often referred to as a ¡°6% Moly¡± grade due to the molybdenum content.
