At elevated temperatures, conventional steels, unlike ASTM A 335 P91 pipes, begin to lose their microstructural form, leading to failure. A burst or crack in the pipe is a visible fault. But since SA 335 P91 chrome-plated welded pipe is well suited to sustain itself at high temperatures, failure rates are extremely low.

Due to the chemical composition of Molybdenum (Mo) and Chromium (Cr), A335 is often referred to as Chromium Molybdenum Tube. Molybdenum increases the strength of the steel as well as the elastic limit, wear resistance, impact quality and hardenability. Molybdenum increases resistance to softening, inhibits grain growth, and makes chromium steel less susceptible to embrittlement. Molybdenum is the most effective single additive for improving high temperature creep strength. It also enhances the corrosion resistance of the steel and inhibits pitting corrosion. Chromium (or chrome) is the basic component of stainless steel. Any steel with 12% or more chromium is considered stainless steel. Chromium is almost irreplaceable in terms of resistance to oxidation at high temperatures. Chromium increases tensile, yield and hardness at room temperature.

ASTM A182 F5 flanges are forged flanges made of chrome molybdenum low alloy steel called 5Cr-0.5Mo, UNS designation K41545. Widely used in oil refineries, chemical and petrochemical, power plant pipelines, heat exchangers, various pressure vessels and other pressure and high temperature services.

A182 grade is an excellent alloy that is hardened only by cold work. Commonly used in nuclear energy, medical equipment, chemical energy, etc.

Alloy steel is steel that is alloyed with a variety of elements in total amounts between 1.0% and 50% by weight to improve its mechanical properties. Alloy steels are broken down into two groups: low alloy steels and high alloy steels. The difference between the two is disputed. Smith and Hashemi define the difference at 4.0%, while Degarmo, et al., define it at 8.0%.[1][2] Most commonly, the phrase “alloy steel” refers to low-alloy steels.

The alloy content of pipes that make up low alloy steel is less than 5%. High alloy steels, on the other hand, have an alloy content ranging from 5% to about 50%. Similar to most alloys, the working pressure capacity of alloy steel seamless pipe is about 20% higher than that of welded pipe.

A/SA387 GR 9CLASS 2 Weldable carbon steel plate for high temperature pressure vessels and boilers. The material benefits from added chromium and molybdenum, which give the steel better corrosion and heat resistance. A/SA387 Grade 9 is intended for use by manufacturers serving the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

Chromium Molybdenum Alloy Steel or Chromium Molybdenum, CrMo is an alloy steel used for high temperature and high pressure service. Chromium molybdenum is used in power generation and petrochemical industries for its tensile strength, corrosion resistance and high temperature strength.

Nuts with a nominal size over 1 inch shall be a UNC Series Class 2B fit or an 8 UN Series Class 2B fit. High strength ASTM A194 grade 2H nuts are common in the market and are often replaced by ASTM A563 grade DH nuts due to the limited availability of DH nuts in certain diameters and finishes.

S32205 is a duplex stainless steel with twice the strength of austenitic stainless steel. Duplex stainless steel composed of 21% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum and 4.5% nickel-nitrogen alloy. It has high strength, good impact toughness and good overall and local stress corrosion resistance. The yield strength of duplex stainless steels is twice that of austenitic stainless steels, a feature that allows designers to reduce weight when designing products, making this alloy more affordable than 316, 317L. This alloy is particularly suitable for use in the -50¡ãF/+600¡ãF temperature range. For applications outside this temperature range, this alloy can also be considered, but there are some limitations, especially when applied to welded structures. Duplex stainless steel has twice the compressive strength compared to austenitic stainless steel, and designers can reduce its weight compared to 316L and 317L. Alloy 2205 is particularly suitable for use in the -50¡ãF/+600¡ãF temperature range, and can also be used at lower temperatures under severe restrictions (especially for welded structures).

For the F5 flange, the creep strength of the chromium-molybdenum low alloy mainly comes from two sources: the solid solution strengthening of the matrix ferrite by carbon, molybdenum and chromium and the precipitation hardening of the carbides.

ASTM A333 is a standard specification for seamless and welded carbon and alloy steel pipes for low temperature service or other applications requiring notch toughness. This standard covers several grades of ferritic steels: Grade, Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 6, Grade 7, Grade 8, Grade 9, Grade 10 and Grade 11. Metals-Piping offers welding processes by seamless or no filler metal added in the welding operation, but Grade 4 shall be manufactured by seamless processes only. Pipes should be free of welding repairs, either by radiographic or ultrasonic testing.
