The SMO 254 Spectacle Blind Flange is considerably much stronger as compared to the standard or conventional austenitic grade alloys. The tensile strength of the Alloy 254 SMO is nearly two times that of grade 300 series stainless steel.

The alloy has good oxidation resistance and creep strength to 1500¡ãF (816¡ãC). It also possesses good low temperature toughness.

It is designed with a combination of impact toughness resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, and pitting and crevice corrosion with strength that is twice that of the stainless steel 300 series.

Stainless steel 317 washer has the best corrosion resistance to environments containing chlorides. Stainless steel 317 washer is a high chromium, nickel and molybdenum version of 316 stainless steel, primarily used for strength and corrosion resistance.
