Carbon steel forgings, manufactured in accordance with ASTM A105, are generally used for piping applications. These forged carbon steel piping components (including flanges, fittings, and valves, etc) are used for ambient- and higher-temperature service in pressure systems. The A105N, which is designated with a suffix ¡°N¡±, denotes that the A105 forging shall be furnished in normalized condition. If the forgings are used for piping applications of ASME BPVC or ASME B31, the material shall be its identical equivalent of SA-105 or SA-105N. In short, the heat treatment of normalization distinguishes A105N from A105, or SA-105N from SA-105. ASTM A105 Flange is a specification of flanges. The specification can include different grades of stainless steel material made flanges. The flanges are of forged carbon steel and are meant for high temperature services.

Alloy 925 is a nickel-based alloy with major additions of iron and chromium, but also molybdenum, copper, titanium, and aluminum. The combination of nickel and chromium provides protection in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres. The high nickel content also provides resistance to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking. Resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion is also excellent. The alloy is produced by a vacuum remelting process, but can be supplied using an air melting single-consumer electrode (VAR or ESR) practice if material specifications permit.

Inconel 625 is an alloy that also performs well at lower temperatures. Temperature changes can cause the alloy tube to expand or contract. Therefore, materials with good ductility, such as Inconel 625 pipe, should be selected for piping systems with temperature fluctuations, especially because of their good properties.

Inconel X750 is an alloy that has a high resistance to corrosion and oxidation. Inconel X750 also resistant to creep deformation, which makes it suitable for use in high-temperature environments where other alloys would deform over time.

The inclusion of chromium imparts good corrosion resistance to austenitic grade 304. However, increasing the chromium content to about 25%, as in the case of 2205 duplex stainless steel pipe makes the alloy resilient across several media.

ASTM A105 (also known as ASME SA 105) covers seamless forged carbon steel piping components for use in pressure systems at ambient and high-temperature service.

The flange is second most used joining method after welding. Flanges are used when joints need dismantling. It provides flexbility for maintenance. Flange connects the pipe with various equiment and valves. Breakup flanges are adde din the pipeline system if regular maintenance in required during plant operation.
A flanged joint is composed of three separate and independent although interrelated components; the flanges, the gaskets, and the bolting; which are assembled by yet another influence, the fitter. Special controls ae required in the selection and application of all these elements to attain a joint, which has acceotable leak tightness.

In order to improve the thermal efficiency of the reheat steam pipeline of the power plant, the reheat temperature can be designed to be 621¡ãC, that is, the supercritical temperature. The United States first developed ASTM A335 P92 alloy steel in the late 1980s to meet the heat resistance requirements of this high temperature power plant. Alloy Steel P92 is an improved version of ASTM A335 P91 alloy with deliberate additions of tungsten, vanadium, niobium, reduced molybdenum content to fine-tune the ferrite/austenite ratio, and carefully controlled boron and nitrogen content.

UNS NO8904, commonly known as 904L, is a low carbon high alloy austenitic stainless steel which is widely used in applications where the corrosion properties of AISI 316L and AISI 317L are not adequate.

ASTM A182 Grade F2 is an alloy steel used for preliminary forming into forged products. The properties cited apply to the annealing conditions. F2 is the ASTM designation for the material. K12122 is the UNS number.
