AL6XN is a superaustenitic stainless steel with outstanding resistance to chloride pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. AL6XN is a 6 moly alloy that was developed for and is used in highly aggressive environments. It has high nickel (24%), molybdenum (6.3%), nitrogen and chromium contents that give it excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, chloride pitting, and exceptional general corrosion resistance. AL6XN is primarily used for its improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chlorides. It is a formable and weldable stainless steel.

Grade 316 stainless steel fasteners are designed for applications in extreme environmental conditions. Therefore, these industries require the 300-grade stainless steel series to provide enhanced protection and higher corrosion resistance. SS 316 Bolts and Nuts are constructed of Ni-Cr-Mo alloy austenitic stainless steel for good strength and excellent corrosion resistance.

UNS S31603 Elbow also has excellent resistance to pitting corrosion and soaring tensile strength. They are machined to have tough and strong chip characteristics. SS 316L 45 Degree Elbow is also considered to be more resistant to general corrosion and pitting than normal Nichrome.

Stainless steel is an alloy of iron that is resistant to rusting. It contains at least 11% chromium and may contain elements such as carbon, other nonmetals and metals to obtain other desired properties. Stainless steel’s resistance to corrosion results from the chromium, which forms a passive film that can protect the material and self-heal in the presence of oxygen.

All stainless steel fabrication can only be done using tools designed for stainless steel materials. Tools and work surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned before use. These precautions are necessary to avoid cross-contamination of stainless steel with easily corroded metals that may discolor the surface of processed products.

To qualify as 316L stainless steel, the amount of carbon cannot exceed 0.03%. This decreases the risk of carbon precipitation, making it a better option for welding to ensure maximum corrosion resistance.

304 stainless steel is the most common stainless steel. The steel contains both chromium (between 18% and 20%) and nickel (between 8% and 10.5%)[1] metals as the main non-iron constituents. It is an austenitic stainless steel.When it comes to uses, SS304 can be found in kitchen sinks and other appliances such as toasters and microwave ovens. SS304 is also used to make pressure vessels, wheel covers as well as for building facades.

316L stainless steel is an austenitic alloy often referred to as “marine grade stainless steel” because it is used in nearly 90% of marine applications – including filtration. These elements are important because they improve the alloy’s corrosion resistance; chromium interacts with oxygen in seawater to form a protective layer of chromium oxide, while molybdenum improves the metal’s resistance to pitting corrosion. Additionally, 316L has a lower carbon content (hence the use of “L” in its name), which gives it better protection against corrosion.

Environments that don¡¯t attack 304/304L stainless steel will normally not corrode 317L.

316L is a less carbon variant of 316. Alloy 316L is generally used when welding is required to ensure maximum corrosion resistance. As 316L consists of lower carbon content it results in lesser carbide precipitation which is a result of welding.

SMO 254 Hallow Pipes is considered resistant to potable water with up to about 200 mg / L chlorides at ambient temperatures, reducing to about 150 mg / L at 60 Degree C.
