Duplex 2205 flanges offer good sulfide corrosion resistance, as well as chloride pitting and crevice corrosion resistant superior to 317L.

The flange is second most used joining method after selding. Flanges are used when joints need dismantling. It provides flexibility for maintenance. Duplex 2205 fasteners are made from cost-effective, long-lasting and corrosion-resistant steel. The grade of steel used to make fasteners can be ferritic, austenitic or dual phase steel. Duplex materials have the strength qualities of ferritic steels and the corrosion-resistant qualities of austenitic steels.

Austenitic has a low strength and a low resistance to stress corrosion cracking, while ferritic also has a low strength, poor weldability and poor low temperature toughness. Producing a chemical composition that combines austenitic and ferritic results in a metal that has a higher strength, good weldability, good toughness and resistance to stress corrosion cracking.

Duplex 2205 fasteners have high toughness and hardness while also possessing high levels of tensile strength, all as a result of the chromium present in them. Super Duplex UNS S32760 has high resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. For optimum corrosion resistance, a pickled or machined surface finish is recommended.

With an increased chromium content compared with F51 it offers improved pitting corrosion resistance.

The ASTM A182 F53 UNS S32750 Flange comes under the ASTM A182 specification for high temperature and high pressure services.

The standard duplex material consists of 22% chromium, 4.5% nickel, 3% molybdenum, manganese, silicon, nitrogen, phosphorus, carbon and sulfur. Duplex 2205 screws and other fasteners have minimum yield strengths up to 97ksi and minimum tensile strengths up to 131ksi. Duplex 2205 hex bolts are nearly twice as strong as austenitic grade steel bolts. They have higher mechanical properties, so 1.4462 alloy 2205 studs and other types of bolts can meet different specifications such as ASME SA 182, 240, 479, 789.
