The function of stainless steel flange is actually to connect the pipe end with the pipe end. ASTM A276 Type 316Ti is a material grade specification for 316Ti stainless steel cold-worked or hot-worked bar in round, square, hexagonal, and other hot-rolled extruded shapes. Alloy 316Ti studs do show surface corrosion, usually as a brown staining, which is particularly relevant for cracks and rough surface finish. The low thermal conductivity of austenitic alloys such as 316Ti studs causes heat to concentrate on the cutting edge, which means that coolants and lubricants are required and must be used in large quantities.

316 can be annealed to resist weld decay.

304 stainless steel is the most common stainless steel. The steel contains both chromium (between 18% and 20%) and nickel (between 8% and 10.5%)[1] metals as the main non-iron constituents. It is an austenitic stainless steel.When it comes to uses, SS304 can be found in kitchen sinks and other appliances such as toasters and microwave ovens. SS304 is also used to make pressure vessels, wheel covers as well as for building facades.

SS316 stainless steel has more carbon than SS316L. Nickel and molybdenum are the main chemical ingredients which are used in manufacturing process of stainless steel SS316 pipes. With adding molybdenum in the producing process, it effectively improves alloy corrosion resistance, specifically in the environment that is highly exposed to crevice corrosion in chloride based environments.

Grade 304L is widely used in the manufacturing industry and all standard welding techniques can be used for 304L plate and 304L pipe. The “L” in 304L stands for “low carbon content” and indicates a maximum carbon content of 0.035%. The “H” in 304H stands for “High Carbon Content”, which means that the carbon content is not less than 0.04% and not more than 0.10%.
