UNS S32760 is a duplex stainless steel especially designed for service in aggressive chloride-containing environments and has additions of W and Cu compared to UNS S32750. It has very good resistance to localized corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in combination with high mechanical strength.

ASTM A453 specification describes the detailed requirements for Class A, B, C, and D, Class 660. A flange is a ring of steel (forged, cut from plate, or rolled) designed to connect sections of pipe, or to join pipe to a pressure vessel, valve, pump or other integral flanged assembly. Flanges are joined to each other by bolts, and to the piping system by welding or threading (or loose when stub ends are used). Stainless steel flange simplified as SS flange, it refers to the flanges that made of stainless steel. Common material standards and Grades are ASTM A182 Grade F304/L and F316/L, with pressure ratings from Class 150, 300, 600 etc and to 2500. It used in more industries than carbon steel as stainless steel has better resistant performances on corrosion environment and always provides with a good appearance.

S31803 is the Unified Numbering System (UNS) designation for the original duplex stainless steel. The UNS system was created by multiple trade groups in the 1970s to reduce confusion when the same alloy was called different things, and vice versa. Each metal is represented by a letter followed by five numbers, where the letter represents the metal series, i.e. S for stainless steel.

For paper mill applications requiring lower alloy grades that do not have sufficient corrosion resistance. Based on a 22% chromium content, they have a combined austenitic:ferritic microstructure that provides greater strength, corrosion resistance and cost-effectiveness.

The UNS S31803 (ASTM F51) specification has been largely superseded by UNS S32205 (1.4462, ASTM F60). This reflects their desire to maximize the alloy’s corrosion properties, thanks to the development of the AOD steelmaking process, which allows for tighter control of composition. In addition, it allows to influence the nitrogen addition level rather than just being present as a background element. Therefore, the highest performing duplex grades seek to maximize the content of chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo) and nitrogen (N).

SAE 304 stainless steel is the most common stainless steel. The steel contains both chromium (between 18% and 20%) and nickel (between 8% and 10.5%)[1] metals as the main non-iron constituents. It is an austenitic stainless steel. It is less electrically and thermally conductive than carbon steel. It is magnetic, but less magnetic than steel. It has a higher corrosion resistance than regular steel and is widely used because of the ease in which it is formed into various shapes.[1]

Alloy 316H (UNS S31609) is a high carbon modification of Alloy 316 developed for high temperature service. This alloy has higher strength at elevated temperatures and can be used in structural and pressure vessel applications above 932¡ãF (500¡ãC). The higher carbon content of 316H also provides higher tensile and yield strengths than 316/316L, and its austenitic structure provides excellent toughness at low temperatures.

Basically, using 304L eliminates the need to anneal welded joints before using the full metal form, saving time and effort. In fact, both 304 and 304L can be used for many of the same applications. The differences are usually so small that one is not considered more useful than the other. When greater corrosion resistance is required, other alloys, such as grade 316 stainless steel, are often considered as an alternative.

In addition to nickel, the alloy also contains a large amount of copper. Not only does copper make the UNS S08904 screw resistant to seawater and salt water, it also improves the alloy’s sulphur resistance. The addition of copper content to stainless steel 904L hex bolts provides higher corrosion resistance than conservative chromium-nickel alloys, especially phosphoric, acetic and sulfuric acids.
