AL6XN is a superaustenitic stainless steel with outstanding resistance to chloride pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. AL6XN is a 6 moly alloy that was developed for and is used in highly aggressive environments. It has high nickel (24%), molybdenum (6.3%), nitrogen and chromium contents that give it excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, chloride pitting, and exceptional general corrosion resistance. AL6XN is primarily used for its improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chlorides. It is a formable and weldable stainless steel.

Types 304 and 316 are very common grades of stainless steel and refer to only one type of stainless steel. If you were to look for Type 304 or 316 stainless steel bolts in the ASTM Handbook of Fastener Standards, you won’t find them. This is because they are steel grades and not fastener specifications, but engineers will specify them and contractors will require them.

ASTM A453 Grade 660 is a material specification for studs, bolts, nuts and other fasteners, intended for use in high temperature bolting applications. ASTM A453 Grade 660 is classified into 4 property class namely A, B, C & D, each designated with different tensile and stress rupture properties.
