Buttweld seamless Stainless Steel pipe fittings 316 pipe bend offers higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion

Stainless steel types 1.4401 and 1.4404 are also known as grades 316 and 316L respectively. Grade 316 is an austenitic grade second only to 304 in commercial importance.

Type 316 stainless steel is an austenitic grade with added molybdenum. The alloy offers improved corrosion resistance when compared with Type 304, particularly in chloride environments. Type 316L should be used for welding applications. While 316 can typically be drawn and formed in a similar fashion to 304, temperature variations can make those processes challenging. For instance, the 316 alloy may become magnetic when cold worked. When there is a danger of corrosion in the heat-affected zones of weldments, the low-carbon variety CS 316L should be used. CS 316 Ti, the titanium-stabilised version, is used for its resistance to sensitization during prolonged exposure in the 550oC-800oC temperature range.
