The Corrosion Resistant HASTELLOY alloys are widely used by the chemical processing industries. The need for reliable performance leads to their acceptance and growth in the areas of energy, health and environmental, oil and gas, pharmaceutical and flue gas desulfurization industries.

This provides greatly enhanced resistance to sulfuric acid. It also has a high chromium content, to maximize its resistance to oxidizing chemicals and process streams contaminated with ferric ions and dissolved oxygen.

It is able to withstand a wide range of oxidizing and non-oxidizing chemicals, and exhibits outstanding resistance to pitting and crevice attack in the presence of chlorides and other halides.

It is commonly referred to by the tradename Hastelloy C22 and the universal designation UNS N06022. C22 has excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance, great mechanical properties over a wide range of temperatures, and good fabrication properties.

Hastelloy C22, also known as Alloy C22, is a general-purpose austenitic grade alloy. The primary alloy materials used in Hastelloy C22 fasteners include metals such as nickel, chromium, molybdenum and tungsten. The main characteristic or characteristic of Hastelloy WERKSTOFF NR. 2.4602 Bolts are their enhanced resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress-related corrosion cracking.

Alloy B-2 has poor corrosion resistance to oxidizing environments, therefore, it is not recommended for use in oxidizing media or in the presence of iron or copper salts, which may cause rapid premature corrosion failure.

C2000 flanges have better temperature capabilities in hydrofluoric, sulfuric, and diluted hydrochloric acids due to the addition of copper.

Hastelloy offer very good resistance to strong reducing and moderately oxidizing corrosive acids, as well excellent stress corrosion cracking resistance and resistance to localized attack.

Incoloy alloy is applied as the prefix name to several highly corrosion resistant high temperature strength metal alloys produced by Special Metals Corporation. HASTELLOY C-276 alloy has excellent resistance to a variety of chemical process environments, including strong oxidizing agents such as ferric and copper chlorides, hot fouling media (organic and inorganic), chlorine, formic and acetic acids, acetic anhydride, and Seawater and brine solutions. It can be used in flue gas desulfurization systems due to its excellent resistance to sulfur compounds and chloride ions in most scrubbers.

Available in various forms, the material is known to be very versatile. The basic chemical makeup of a Hastelloy C276 seamless Pipe includes Nickel, chromium, and molybdenum in its alloy. The trio elements in this wrought alloy are what gives the Hastelloy C276 welded Pipe its high mechanical properties in addition to its excellent corrosion resistance properties.

The corrosion resistance property of the alloy is credited to the addition of both Molybdenum and nickel.

C-22? alloy (UNS N06022) is a well-known nickel-chromium-molybdenum material, some of its main properties are resistance to oxidizing and non-oxidizing chemicals, protection from Subject to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. C22 has a high chromium content and is more resistant to oxidation than C-276 alloy.

Hastelloy G30 is a nickel-based alloy with a high chromium content that provides superior corrosion resistance to commercial phosphoric acid and many highly oxidizing acid media.

Hastelloy C-276 alloy can be forged, hot-upset, and impact extruded. Although the alloy tends to work-harden, it can be successfully deep-drawn, spun, press formed or punched.

C22 has excellent resistance to chloride-induced localized corrosion, including pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.

NAS NW276 is a Ni Cr Mo alloy with excellent corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres. In this alloy, carbide precipitation in the heat affected zone (HAZ) is suppressed and corrosion resistance is improved by reducing the contents of C and Si.

ANSI B16.11 Hastelloy B2 plugs have excellent resistance to oxidizing aqueous media including wet chlorine and mixtures including oxidizing or nitric acid.

The alloy is forged between 2250/1750oF (1230/955oC) and then soaked at the forging temperature for 30 minutes per inch of billet or ingot section thickness. Forging should begin immediately, the billet is removed from the reheat furnace, a 25/40% reduction helps retain as much internal heat as possible. For optimum corrosion resistance, forged parts should be subsequently annealed. See Heat Treatment.

This nickel alloy also offers optimum resistance to environments where reducing and oxidizing conditions are encountered in process streams. This is beneficial in multi- purpose plants where such ¡°upset¡± conditions occur frequently.
