The most common grade of Hastelloy fasteners is Hastelloy C276 (2.4819), which is one of the most versatile corrosion-resistant nickel alloys, surpassing Inconel or Monel. There are also other special grades of Hastelloy fasteners that can address more niche corrosion problems.

UNS N10276 Sheets has excellent resistance to pitting corrosion, pressure corrosion cracking and a far higher resistance to crevice corrosion than steels of alloy.

The alloy is forged between 2250/1750oF (1230/955oC) and then soaked at the forging temperature for 30 minutes per inch of billet or ingot section thickness. Forging should begin immediately, the billet is removed from the reheat furnace, a 25/40% reduction helps retain as much internal heat as possible. Hastelloy X is extremely resistant to stress corrosion cracking in petrochemical applications. All product forms are excellent in forming and welding.

Hastelloy B3 is molybdenum and nickel alloys family additional member with greater hydrochloric acid resistance at various concentrations and temperatures. It is withstanding formic, sulphuric and phosphoric acid as well as non-oxidizing acids.

Hastelloy C276 boards can be easily welded using the most traditional processes. In general, 2.4819 Hastelloy C276 Coil does not require post weld heat treatment. Brushing these boards with stainless steel wire after the welding operation usually removes the hot color and likewise creates surface areas that do not require additional pickling.

Hastelloy B2 studs have poor corrosion resistance to oxidizing environments and are therefore not recommended for use in oxidizing media or in the presence of iron or copper salts as they may cause rapid premature corrosion failure.

Hastelloy C-276 alloy has excellent resistance to a variety of chemical process environments, including strong oxidizing agents (such as ferric chloride and cupric chloride), hot fouling media (organic and inorganic), chlorine, formic and acetic acid, acetic anhydride, and Seawater and brine solutions.

The premium composition of molybdenum and nickel content of c276 is used to make nickel steel alloys. It helps resist crevice and pitting corrosion in reducing environments. Chromium, on the other hand, is used to impart resistance to oxidizing media.

Thus these Hastelloy B2 Flanges are considered to be well suited to be used for most chemical process applications in an as-welded condition. Due to lower carbon content in the alloy, there is reduced precipitation of carbides as well as other phases in the heat-affected weld zones, which in turn ensures uniform resistance to corrosion in the flange.

Alloy C22 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum solid solution strengthened super-alloy with a nominal chemical composition of 56% nickel, 22% chromium, and 13% molybdenum, with additions of iron, tungsten, and cobalt.
