Hastelloy C22 fasteners are a general-purpose grade composed of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and tungsten alloys. These designs are designed to increase resistance to pitting, stress corrosion cracking (SSC) and crevice corrosion cracking. It has high chromium content and good resistance to oxidizing media. The presence of molybdenum and tungsten provides good resistance to reducing media. Its nickel content provides admirable resistance to oxidizing aqueous media.

Hastelloy B3 Weld Neck Flange is not recommended for use in the presence of ferric or cupric salts because these salts can cause premature failure.

What distinguishes the Hastelloy B3 fastener from its predecessor is its excellent ductility during transient exposure to intermediate temperatures (i.e. machining, heat treatment) due to its lower carbon content. C22 is typically provided in the annealed condition with a minimum yield strength of 45 ksi. However, C22 can be cold worked to higher strength levels.
