AL6XN is a superaustenitic stainless steel with outstanding resistance to chloride pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. AL6XN is a 6 moly alloy that was developed for and is used in highly aggressive environments. It has high nickel (24%), molybdenum (6.3%), nitrogen and chromium contents that give it excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, chloride pitting, and exceptional general corrosion resistance. AL6XN is primarily used for its improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chlorides. It is a formable and weldable stainless steel.

The Stainless Steel 304 Round Bar, as the name suggests is made up of 304 grade stainless steel material. It has around 18% chromium and 8% nickel in its chemical composition. The round bar shows high resistance to corrosion and enhanced strength properties. The material is quite strong with around 515 Mpa min tensile strength and min yield strength of 205 MPa.

Incoloy 925 flange is often used for marine and pump shafts or high-strength piping systems.

Stainless steel 316/ 316L flanges can be made by hot forging or casting. Blind or sliding plate flanges without hubs can be machined directly from the plate. Flanges should be solution treated at not less than 1900¡ãF [1040¡ãC] and then quenched in cold water or other rapid cooling method.

The ASTM A453 Grade 660 Grade D specification provides the yield strength, ie. 95 ksi 655 MPa] respectively for high temperature service, for bolted components such as studs, screws, nuts, hex bolts and various other fasteners for pressure vessel and valve flanges. ASTM A453 Grade 660 Grade D bolts are iron-based superalloy bolts made from an iron-nickel-chromium alloy with the addition of molybdenum and titanium. A453 660 Grade D Bolts maintain good strength and oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 1300oF.

AISI 904L Studs are used to hold components together such as flanges, valves, filters and other plumbing components. Common AISI 904L stud types include full or continuous thread studs, tap end thread studs, stud studs, stud short shank studs, welded studs bolts etc. These alloy 904L studs are also an austenitic alloy, which means that iron carbide or a non-magnetic solid solution of carbon in iron is used to improve corrosion resistance. 300 series grade stainless steel is a chromium-nickel alloy that is manufactured into a range of products including stainless steel tubes and steel pipes. Fully austenitic welds are more prone to cracking during welding. For this reason, Type 316 and Type 316L “matching” filler metals are formulated to cure with a small amount of ferrite in the microstructure to minimize cracking susceptibility.

S31803 is the Unified Numbering System (UNS) designation for the original duplex stainless steel. The UNS system was created by multiple trade groups in the 1970s to reduce confusion when the same alloy was called different things, and vice versa. Each metal is represented by a letter followed by five numbers, where the letter represents the metal series, i.e. S for stainless steel.

For paper mill applications requiring lower alloy grades that do not have sufficient corrosion resistance. Based on a 22% chromium content, they have a combined austenitic:ferritic microstructure that provides greater strength, corrosion resistance and cost-effectiveness.

The UNS S31803 (ASTM F51) specification has been largely superseded by UNS S32205 (1.4462, ASTM F60). This reflects their desire to maximize the alloy’s corrosion properties, thanks to the development of the AOD steelmaking process, which allows for tighter control of composition. In addition, it allows to influence the nitrogen addition level rather than just being present as a background element. Therefore, the highest performing duplex grades seek to maximize the content of chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo) and nitrogen (N).
