UNS S32750 ( F53 / 1.4410 / Alloy 2507) has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion and higher thermal conductivity than austenitic steel, and is suitable for operating temperatures up to 300 ℃.

Compared with ferritic stainless steel and austenitic stainless steel, duplex stainless steel pipe has good welding performance. It is neither like the welding heat affected zone of ferritic stainless steel, because of the grain coarsening, the plastic toughness is greatly reduced, nor like austenitic stainless steel, it is more sensitive to welding hot cracks.

ASTM A815 specification covers two general classes, WP and CR, of wrought ferritic, ferritic/austenitic, and martensitic stainless steel fittings of seamless and welded construction. ASTM A479 Duplex Steel UNS S32205 Round Gaskets are nitrogen reinforced duplex alloys formed to address common corrosion problems found incidentally with 300 series alloys. ASME SA 479 Duplex Steel UNS S31803 Machined Washers are hardened at 1868 to 1958 degrees Fahrenheit and then water quenched.

Duplex 2205 stainless steel (ferritic and austenitic) is widely used in applications requiring good corrosion resistance and strength. Grade S31803 stainless steel was modified several times to form UNS S32205, which was recognized in 1996.

In general, duplex steel S31803 plate can be used as a replacement for the rather expensive stainless steel alloy grade 904L, as 2205 SS plate has similar properties but is less expensive in composition.

Duplex2205 washers are dual phase austentic-ferritic duplex fasteners manufactured from alloy containing chromium, nickel alloy and molybdenum with restricted carbon content and minimum PREN35, SAF2205 fasteners have excellent corrosion resistance and high strength.

The yield strength of this material is almost two times that of the usually used austenitic stainless steel grade.

The standard duplex material consists of 22% chromium, 4.5% nickel, 3% molybdenum, manganese, silicon, nitrogen, phosphorus, carbon and sulfur. Duplex 2205 screws and other fasteners have minimum yield strengths up to 97ksi and minimum tensile strengths up to 131ksi. Duplex 2205 hex bolts are nearly twice as strong as austenitic grade steel bolts. They have higher mechanical properties, so 1.4462 alloy 2205 studs and other types of bolts can meet different specifications such as ASME SA 182, 240, 479, 789.

Duplex Stainless Steel offers excellent resistance to corrosion along with very high mechanical strength, which allows for lighter fabrication and greater design flexibility. With this high corrosion resistance, Duplex Stainless Steel provides more uptime than Carbon Steel or conventional Stainless Steel.

The chemistry of this steel ensures better performance with higher mechanical properties in comparison to austenitic stainless steel pipes.

Duplex 1.4462 round bars also have low thermal expansion and high thermal conductivity as well as high corrosion and erosion fatigue properties compared to austenite. The corrosion resistance of duplex 2205 is almost twice that of other austenitic stainless steels.

Duplex 2205 bolts have a ductile to brittle transition at -50¡ãC and also become brittle at 300-1000¡ãC, so a temperature of -50¡ãC to 300¡ãC is recommended. Exposure to above 300¡ãC will not only cause embrittlement of 2205 bolts, but will also reduce corrosion resistance.

The Duplex Steel Pipe gets its name from the dual nature present in the microstructure of the alloy. The flange is second most used joining method after selding. Flanges are used when joints need dismantling. It provides flexibility for maintenance. Flange connects the pipe with various equipment and valves. Breakup flanges are added in the pipeline system if regular maintenance in required during plant operation.
A flanged joint is composed of three separate and independent although interrdlated components; the flanges, the gaskets, and the bolting; which are assembled by yet another influence, the fitter. Special controls are required in the selection and application of all there elements to attain a joint, which has acceptable leak tightness.
A flange is a protruded ridge, lip or rim, either external or internal, that serves to increase strength (as the flange of an iron beam such as an I-beam or a T-beam); for easy attachment/transfer of contact force with another object (as the flange on the end of a pipe, steam cylinder, etc., or on the lens mount of a camera); or for stabilizing and guiding the movements of a machine or its parts (as the inside flange of a rail car or tram wheel, which keep the wheels from running off the rails). This alloy is especially useful in the -50¡ãF/+600¡ãF temperature range. For applications outside this temperature range, this alloy can also be considered, but there are some restrictions, especially when used in welded structures.
