Compared to ordinary stainless steel, 1.4547 is more resistant to uniform corrosion, especially in halide-containing acids. Especially with the increase of nickel and molybdenum content, the resistance to stress corrosion cracking increases. This means that Ultra 254 SMO has very good resistance to stress corrosion cracking. SMO 254 used and manufactured is widely used in seawater applications such as cooling water pipes, cooling seawater, ballast water systems and fire suppression systems. They are also widely used in components of gas purification systems.
