AL6XN is primarily used for its improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chlorides. It is a formable and weldable stainless steel.

UNS N08367 also commonly referred to as alloy AL6XN is a low carbon, high purity, nitrogen-bearing “super-austenitic” nickel-molybdenum alloy with excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion.

316 stainless steel has a similar chemical composition to 304, but also contains molybdenum. This addition makes it more resistant to corrosion. Like 304, the 316 formulation does not require post weld annealing. 316L stainless steel is almost the same as 316. The only difference is the carbon content. The low carbon content of 316L imparts better corrosion resistance than 316. 316L does not require post weld annealing.

904L washers are made of a non-stabilized low carbon high alloy austenitic stainless steel.
