254 SMO is a high alloy austenitic stainless steel developed for use in seawater and other corrosive chlorine-containing media. The steel has the following properties: excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, high resistance to general corrosion and high resistance to stress corrosion cracking. 254 SMo / EN 1.4547 / UNS S31254 / 6Mo are generally used in pumps, valves, chokes, pipes/flanges and washers and have a high resistance to general corrosion.

The combination of nickel and chromium in Incoloy 925 Ring Joint Type Flanges renders protection in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres. High speed operations in Incoloy 925 Spacer Flanges such as grinding, milling or turning, are usually performed using water ¨C based coolants.

Sustained or prolonged exposure of Type 316L to 800-1500¡ãF (427-816¡ãC) may be harmful. In addition, stress relief between 100-1500¡ãF (593-816¡ãC) may cause this Type of slight embrittlement.

Basically, using 304L eliminates the need to anneal welded joints before using the full metal form, saving time and effort. In fact, both 304 and 304L can be used for many of the same applications. The differences are usually so small that one is not considered more useful than the other. It is an austenitic stainless steel alloy with high nickel (24%), chromium (22%), molybdenum (6%), and nitrogen (0.18%) content and is commonly known as superaustenitic stainless steel (alloys such as 254 SMO (UNS?S31254) and 904L (UNS?N08904) also fall under the superaustenitic designation) while 2205 (UNS S32305/ S31803) and 2507 (UNS S32750) are duplex and super duplex stainless steel, respectively.
