UNS S31600 material is considered a marine grade pipe and is designed without any welds or seams. The grade performs well in different aqueous media and shows resistance to pitting corrosion by chlorides and any contaminants. The superior chemistry of this grade prevents long-term plumbing in water bodies. However, marine-grade pipelines are susceptible to warm waters.

Compared to 302, stainless steel 309 studs have a low carbon, high chromium stainless steel for cold heading, typically for hot heading of large diameter or long bolts. One of the best properties of Grade 309 is its resistance to high or elevated temperatures. Similar to grade 310, the high chromium content in stainless steel 309 gives it this heat resistance.

304 has good oxidation resistance in intermittent duty up to 870¡ãC and continuous duty up to 925¡ãC. However, continuous use at 425-860¡ãC is not recommended. In this case, 304L is recommended because of its resistance to carbide precipitation.

SAE 310 stainless steel is a highly alloyed austenitic stainless steel used for high temperature application. The high chromium and nickel content give the steel excellent oxidation resistance as well as high strength at high temperature. This grade is also very ductile, and has good weldability enabling its widespread usage in many applications
