Nickel Alloy 400 and Monel 400, also known as UNS N04400, is a ductile nickel-copper-based alloy consisting primarily of two-thirds nickel and one-third copper. Nickel Alloy 400 is known for its resistance to a variety of corrosive conditions, including alkalis (or acids), salt water, hydrofluoric acid, and sulfuric acid. Since Monel 400 or Alloy 400 is a cold worked metal, this alloy has high hardness, stiffness and strength. By cold working ASTM B164 UNS N04400 bar stock, the alloy is subjected to higher levels of mechanical stress, which in turn causes changes in the alloy’s microstructure.

Hastelloy G30 is a nickel-based alloy with a high chromium content that provides superior corrosion resistance to commercial phosphoric acid and many highly oxidizing acid media.

Incoloy WNR 1.4876 bolts have excellent corrosion resistance and avoid failures due to intergranular corrosion. Advanced molybdenum content material concentrates vulnerability to pitting corrosion. The standard duplex material consists of 22% chromium, 4.5% nickel, 3% molybdenum, manganese, silicon, nitrogen, phosphorus, carbon and sulfur. Duplex 2205 screws and other fasteners have minimum yield strengths up to 97ksi and minimum tensile strengths up to 131ksi. Duplex 2205 hex bolts are nearly twice as strong as austenitic grade steel bolts. They have higher mechanical properties, so 1.4462 alloy 2205 studs and other types of bolts can meet different specifications such as ASME SA 182, 240, 479, 789.

A flanged joint is composed of three separate and independent although interrdlated components; the flanges, the gaskets, and the bolting; which are assembled by yet another influence, the fitter. Special controls are required in the selection and application of all there elements to attain a joint, which has acceptable leak tightness.
A flange is a protruded ridge, lip or rim, either external or internal, that serves to increase strength (as the flange of an iron beam such as an I-beam or a T-beam); for easy attachment/transfer of contact force with another object (as the flange on the end of a pipe, steam cylinder, etc., or on the lens mount of a camera); or for stabilizing and guiding the movements of a machine or its parts (as the inside flange of a rail car or tram wheel, which keep the wheels from running off the rails).
