AL6XN is a superaustenitic stainless steel with outstanding resistance to chloride pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. AL6XN is a 6 moly alloy that was developed for and is used in highly aggressive environments. It has high nickel (24%), molybdenum (6.3%), nitrogen and chromium contents that give it excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, chloride pitting, and exceptional general corrosion resistance. AL6XN is primarily used for its improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chlorides. It is a formable and weldable stainless steel.

904L stainless steel combines molybdenum and copper with iron for tremendously increased resistance to reducing acids like sulphuric acid. It stands up extremely well to chlorides in the environment for low pitting and crevice corrosion, as well as stress corrosion cracking.

AISI 904L Studs are used to hold components together such as flanges, valves, filters and other plumbing components. Common AISI 904L stud types include full or continuous thread studs, tap end thread studs, stud studs, stud short shank studs, welded studs bolts etc. These alloy 904L studs are also an austenitic alloy, which means that iron carbide or a non-magnetic solid solution of carbon in iron is used to improve corrosion resistance. SAE 304 stainless steel is the most common stainless steel. The steel contains both chromium (between 18% and 20%) and nickel (between 8% and 10.5%)[1] metals as the main non-iron constituents. It is an austenitic stainless steel. It is less electrically and thermally conductive than carbon steel. It is magnetic, but less magnetic than steel. It has a higher corrosion resistance than regular steel and is widely used because of the ease in which it is formed into various shapes.[1]

ASTM A213 TP 310 Pipe consists of 24% Chromium, 19% Nickel, Sulfur, Phosphorus, Silicon, Manganese and Carbon. Higher chromium and nickel content also makes it superior to 304 or 309 stainless steel. The material also has a minimum yield strength of 205 MPa and a minimum tensile strength of 520 MPa. The elongation is 40%, and the Brinell hardness of the 310 stainless steel pipe is 225HBW.

UNS S31600 material is considered a marine grade pipe and is designed without any welds or seams. The grade performs well in different aqueous media and shows resistance to pitting corrosion by chlorides and any contaminants. The superior chemistry of this grade prevents long-term plumbing in water bodies. However, marine-grade pipelines are susceptible to warm waters.

There are many different types of 316 stainless steel. Some common types are the L, F, N, and H variants. Each is slightly different and each serves a different purpose. “L” means 316L steel has less carbon than 316.

With this high melting point, the flange can withstand temperatures up to 870 degrees Celsius. There are different types of flanges according to the face type. 304 stainless steel flanges are available with flat, raised and ring joints.

304 also contains 8-10.5% nickel (Ni). It is added to make the austenite structure more stable at room temperature. Nickel also improves high temperature oxidation resistance, making the steel resistant to stress corrosion cracking. Where the steel is to be stretch formed, a lower percentage (8%) of nickel should be chosen. Higher percentages are better (9% or more) if the steel is to be deep drawn.

The flange connection type usually comes with a double unit, with washers and some bolts and nuts to connect to each other. (The pipe is welded on the flange first, and then the valve and other equipment are installed on the flange.) When connecting these parts, put the gasket between the two flanges, and then tighten the flange screws so that the two are tightly connected together. Flange connection is convenient, flexible and labor-saving. When the pipeline is repaired, the screws on the flange can be removed, and the corresponding pipeline or valve can be removed. Also replace with new pipes and valves.
