Nickel Alloy 400 and Monel 400, also known as UNS N04400, is a ductile nickel-copper-based alloy consisting primarily of two-thirds nickel and one-third copper. Nickel Alloy 400 is known for its resistance to a variety of corrosive conditions, including alkalis (or acids), salt water, hydrofluoric acid, and sulfuric acid. Since Monel 400 or Alloy 400 is a cold worked metal, this alloy has high hardness, stiffness and strength. Inconel 600 round bar is a nickel-based alloy with benign carburization and excellent corrosion resistance at high temperatures. Inconel 600 round bars are effective against drying Cl2 and many other different gases at mild and high temperatures. Alloy 600 bar is a nickel-chromium alloy with good oxidation resistance and resistance to chloride pressure decomposition cracking, high cleanliness water corrosion and acid oxidation at elevated temperatures.

UNS N08367 also commonly referred to as alloy AL6XN is a low carbon, high purity, nitrogen-bearing “super-austenitic” nickel-molybdenum alloy with excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion.

This provides greatly enhanced resistance to sulfuric acid. It also has a high chromium content, to maximize its resistance to oxidizing chemicals and process streams contaminated with ferric ions and dissolved oxygen.

The flange is second most used joining method after selding. Flanges are used when joints need dismantling. It provides flexibility for maintenance. Flange connects the pipe with various equipment and valves. Breakup flanges are added in the pipeline system if regular maintenance in required during plant operation.
A flanged joint is composed of three separate and independent although interrdlated components; the flanges, the gaskets, and the bolting; which are assembled by yet another influence, the fitter. Special controls are required in the selection and application of all there elements to attain a joint, which has acceptable leak tightness.
A flange is a protruded ridge, lip or rim, either external or internal, that serves to increase strength (as the flange of an iron beam such as an I-beam or a T-beam); for easy attachment/transfer of contact force with another object (as the flange on the end of a pipe, steam cylinder, etc., or on the lens mount of a camera); or for stabilizing and guiding the movements of a machine or its parts (as the inside flange of a rail car or tram wheel, which keep the wheels from running off the rails). The term “flange” is also used for a kind of tool used to form flanges.

While similar to the Type 304 commonly found in the food industry, both Types 316 and 316L exhibit better corrosion resistance and are stronger at elevated temperatures. Neither can be hardened by heat treatment, and can be easily shaped and stretched (pulled or pushed through a die or smaller hole).

Like steel, 316 stainless steel is primarily composed of iron and carbon. Inconel 600 fasteners are made of Inconel. Different grades of Inconel have different compositions. ASTM B166 Inconel 600 Stud Bolts are made from an alloy with 72% Nickel, 14% Chromium, and 6% Iron, which also contains Carbon, Silicon, Manganese, Sulfur, and Copper.

Alloy 20 (Alloy 20) is an iron-based austenitic alloy developed to resist sulfuric acid corrosion. It has excellent resistance to sulfuric acid corrosion; it has strong resistance to phosphoric acid, nitric acid and chloride environments, chloride stress corrosion, pitting corrosion and crack corrosion. Therefore, alloy 20 has the name of anti-corrosion alloy; it has a wide range of applications: such as: chemical, food, medicine, power production and plastics industries will use it. For resistance to pitting corrosion and chloride corrosion, stress corrosion cracking problems, etc., alloy 20 is often used.

Inconel 601 Flanges are made up of a nickel chromium alloy. The material grads range differently with the composition ratio. The 601 grade has 58% nickel, 21% chromium, carbon, manganese, silicon, sulfur, copper and iron in the composition.
