Compared with ferritic stainless steel and austenitic stainless steel, duplex stainless steel pipe has good welding performance. Compared to 317L stainless steel, duplex steel has excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion. The alloy has excellent corrosion resistance to seawater and most concentrations of sulfuric acid. In addition, it is resistant to sulfide stress corrosion cracking (sour gas environments)

It is alsohighly resistant to inorganic acids, especially if they contain chlorides.

Due to the ferritic portion of the duplex structure of the alloy it is very resistant to stress corrosion cracking in warm chloride containing environments.

A182 F51 Duplex stainless steel composed of 21% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum and 4.5% nickel-nitrogen alloy. It has high strength, good impact toughness and good overall and local stress corrosion resistance.

It has the nominal composition of 22Cr-5Ni-3Mo-N with P number 10H.

2205 duplex grade without requiring higher levels of nickel or molybdenum. This means that it is a low-cost option than most austenitic stainless steel having the same requirements.

F51 duplex stainless steel is especially suitable for use in the temperature range of -50¡ãF/+600¡ãF, and can also be used for lower temperatures under strictly limited conditions (especially for welded structures).
