2205 has excellent corrosion properties, and it is well-suited to environments containing chlorides and hydrogen sulphide, for use in oil and gas extraction from sour wells, in refineries and in process solutions contaminated with chlorides.

Duplex bolts S31803 are widely used in several industries due to the enhanced strength transferred from the structural austenitic portion. Alloy 2205 provides pitting and crevice corrosion resistance superior to 316L or 317L austenitic stainless steel tube in almost all corrosive media. It also has high corrosion and erosion fatigue properties as well as lower thermal expansion and higher thermal conductivity than austenitic.

The strength, factorially speaking of an ASTM A790 UNS S31803 Seamless Pipe, is two times higher than that of either of the two stainless steel classes. And the toughness and ductility of the Sa 790 UNS S32205 Welded Pipe are better in comparison to ferritic steels.
