AL6XN is a superaustenitic stainless steel with outstanding resistance to chloride pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. AL6XN is a 6 moly alloy that was developed for and is used in highly aggressive environments. It has high nickel (24%), molybdenum (6.3%), nitrogen and chromium contents that give it excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, chloride pitting, and exceptional general corrosion resistance. AL6XN is primarily used for its improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chlorides. It is a formable and weldable stainless steel.

UNS N08367 also commonly referred to as alloy AL6XN is a low carbon, high purity, nitrogen-bearing “super-austenitic” nickel-molybdenum alloy with excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion.

UNS S31600 material is considered a marine grade pipe and is designed without any welds or seams. The grade performs well in different aqueous media and shows resistance to pitting corrosion by chlorides and any contaminants. The superior chemistry of this grade prevents long-term plumbing in water bodies. However, marine-grade pipelines are susceptible to warm waters.

Type 304L is a variant of Type 304 with a low carbon content to improve weldability and reduce the risk of reduced corrosion resistance around the weld. The yield strength and tensile energy of Type 304L are also slightly reduced compared to Type 304.

While the chemical composition of stainless steel 304l round bars may not differ much from grade 304, this alloy has undoubtedly proven to be very useful. This low carbon ASME SA479 Type 304l round bar has been modified to increase its weldability.
