It has high nickel (24%), molybdenum (6.3%), nitrogen and chromium contents that give it excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, chloride pitting, and exceptional general corrosion resistance. AL6XN is primarily used for its improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chlorides. It is a formable and weldable stainless steel.

254SMO is substantially stronger than the common austenitic grades, but is also characterized by high ductility and impact strength.

904L washers are made of a non-stabilized low carbon high alloy austenitic stainless steel. The addition of copper to this grade gives it greatly improved resistance to strong reducing acids, particularly sulphuric acid. It is also highly resistant to chloride attack ¨C both pitting / crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. This grade is non-magnetic in all conditions and has excellent weldability and formability. The austenitic structure also gives this grade excellent toughness, even down to cryogenic temperatures. Due to its intrinsic anti-corrosive properties, 904L can be made into bolts, nuts, washers, studs, socket head cap screws, as well as a wide variety of other fasteners.

254SMO (UNS S31254, ASTM F44, 1.4547) is a so-called super austenitic stainless steel. By increasing the molybdenum content to 6%, it achieves a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) > 43, which is similar to Super Duplex Stainless Steel (SDSS).

Type 304 is slightly less strong than 302 due to its lower carbon content. Type 304 is widely used in welding applications because the low carbon allows some exposure in the carbide precipitation range of 800¡ãF – 1500¡ãF without the need for post-annealing operation.
