Alloy 2205 duplex stainless steel is an alloy developed from the initial Super Duplex Stainless Steel. It is supplied in the solution annealed condition.

These grades of super duplex stainless steel fasteners are used when applications require excellent corrosion resistance and strength. Composed of nitrogen, molybdenum and chromium, they have excellent resistance to crevice corrosion and chloride pitting.

The flange is second most used joining method after selding. Flanges are used when joints need dismantling. It provides flexibility for maintenance. Flange connects the pipe with various equipment and valves. Breakup flanges are added in the pipeline system if regular maintenance in required during plant operation.
A flanged joint is composed of three separate and independent although interrdlated components; the flanges, the gaskets, and the bolting; which are assembled by yet another influence, the fitter. Special controls are required in the selection and application of all there elements to attain a joint, which has acceptable leak tightness.
A flange is a protruded ridge, lip or rim, either external or internal, that serves to increase strength (as the flange of an iron beam such as an I-beam or a T-beam); for easy attachment/transfer of contact force with another object (as the flange on the end of a pipe, steam cylinder, etc., or on the lens mount of a camera); or for stabilizing and guiding the movements of a machine or its parts (as the inside flange of a rail car or tram wheel, which keep the wheels from running off the rails). The advantage of the dual-phase structure is that it combines the stress corrosion cracking resistance and high strength of ferritic alloys with the ease of manufacture and corrosion resistance of austenitic stainless steel alloys.

Due to the alloy’s very high mechanical strength, dual-phase fastener manufacturers can reduce the weight of their designs by thinning the cross-section of the final product, proving a cost-saving alternative to other grades of stainless steel.

The temperature in heat exchange is usually increased because they work according to the principle of heat transfer. While A789 tubing can hold its own at high temperatures, it is not recommended for use in temperatures above 600F. Duplex 2205 Tube may become brittle and rot at temperatures above 600F.

Super Duplex 2507 (F53 / 1.4410 / UNS S32750) has excellent corrosion resistance to a variety of media, and has excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in seawater and other chloride-containing environments, with a critical pitting temperature exceeding 50¡ãC.

Duplex stainless steel 2205 alloy is a compound stainless steel composed of 22% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum and 4.5% nickel nitrogen alloy.
It has high strength, good impact toughness and good overall and local stress corrosion resistance.

2507 has a higher chromium and molybdenum content which gives the super duplex greater corrosion resistance than other standard duplex grades.

Duplex stainless steel is designed to combine improved resistance to stress corrosion cracking (including sulfide stress corrosion cracking), pitting, crevice corrosion and high strength when compared with other stainless alloys.

Duplex-grade stainless steel alloys have ferritic/austenitic properties, giving these materials superior strength and excellent resistance to oxidation.
