17-4 PH flanges are constructed of precipitation hardened stainless steel known for its exceptional strength and ability to maintain mechanical properties to 600°F. The yield strength of 17-4 PH flanges is more than 4 times higher than that of 316 stainless steel. 17-4 PH can have up to 2-½ times the yield strength compared to duplex 2205 flanges.

Stainless steel 17-4PH flanges are extremely resistant to corrosive environments and crevice corrosion. Stainless steel 904L flanges are widely used in the closure of pressure vessel tails to help provide good connections while maintaining pressure in high pressure areas.

17-4PH is a precipitation hardening (PH) martensitic stainless steel composed of copper and niobium/tantalum. This grade has high strength, hardness and corrosion resistance. Its mechanical properties can be optimized by heat treatment and the compressive strength can reach 1100-1300 mpa (160-190 ksi).
