254 SMO is a 6% molybdenum and nitrogen alloyed austenitic stainless steel with very high resistance to uniform and localized corrosion. This product has been specially developed for oil and gas offshore platforms and the pulp and paper industry. 254 SMo / EN 1.4547 / UNS S31254 / 6Mo Super austenitic steel combines moderate tensile strength and high ductility with excellent corrosion resistance in seawater and various industrial environments. This alloy is high in nickel and about 6 percent molybdenum, with copper and nitrogen added. This alloy, along with a range of other alloys, was developed to resist stress corrosion cracking in boiling chloride solutions. It is relatively easy to manufacture and solder.
