AL6XN is a 6 moly alloy that was developed for and is used in highly aggressive environments. It has high nickel (24%), molybdenum (6.3%), nitrogen and chromium contents that give it excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, chloride pitting, and exceptional general corrosion resistance. AL6XN is primarily used for its improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chlorides. It is a formable and weldable stainless steel.

254 SMO is a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel developed for use in aggressive chloride-bearing media or seawater applications. The 254 SMO is characterised by its high chromium content, this is further complemented by its molybdenum and nitrogen content which gives 254 SMO excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Since these oil storage tanks are located in the Arabian Gulf (saline conditions) the use of this material was an optimal solution for the environment. In addition to this, the coating of the flanges was also specially selected due to its protective qualities.

304L stainless steel pipe is a low carbon variant of grade 304 – the steel can be welded without problems with carbon precipitation (the precipitation of chromium carbide when heat is applied during welding depletes the steel of chromium, reducing its resistance to -corrosion/oxidation Effect).

253 MA achieves its heat resistance properties through tightly controlled microalloy additions. Cerium combines with silicon to provide excellent oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 2000¡ãF (1093¡ãC). S31803 is the Unified Numbering System (UNS) designation for the original duplex stainless steel. The UNS system was created by multiple trade groups in the 1970s to reduce confusion when the same alloy was called different things, and vice versa. Each metal is represented by a letter followed by five numbers, where the letter represents the metal series, i.e. S for stainless steel.

For paper mill applications requiring lower alloy grades that do not have sufficient corrosion resistance. Based on a 22% chromium content, they have a combined austenitic:ferritic microstructure that provides greater strength, corrosion resistance and cost-effectiveness.

The UNS S31803 (ASTM F51) specification has been largely superseded by UNS S32205 (1.4462, ASTM F60). This reflects their desire to maximize the alloy’s corrosion properties, thanks to the development of the AOD steelmaking process, which allows for tighter control of composition. In addition, it allows to influence the nitrogen addition level rather than just being present as a background element. Therefore, the highest performing duplex grades seek to maximize the content of chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo) and nitrogen (N).

Grade 310S Stainless Steel Butt Weld Pipe Fitting contains low Carbon, with higher Nickel and Chromium content curbing Hydrogen sulphide attack, which used in various industries like heat exchangers, furnace parts, shipbuilding, heat treatment baskets, condensers, offshore etc.

It can also withstand high temperatures and has a high melting point at about 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit or about 1,370 degrees Celsius. In addition to carbon, this alloy contains up to 2% manganese and up to 0.75% silicon.
