AL6XN is a superaustenitic stainless steel with outstanding resistance to chloride pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. AL6XN is a 6 moly alloy that was developed for and is used in highly aggressive environments. It has high nickel (24%), molybdenum (6.3%), nitrogen and chromium contents that give it excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, chloride pitting, and exceptional general corrosion resistance. AL6XN is primarily used for its improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chlorides. It is a formable and weldable stainless steel.

It is widely used in offshore oil and gas exploration/production and in heat exchangers in petrochemical/chemical processing.

Nickel-copper-based alloy 400 Monel 2.4360 cold drawn rod is virtually immune to chloride stress-related corrosion cracking when exposed to corrosive media in typical environments. Incoloy Alloy 800 is widely used in equipment that must have high strength and resistance to oxidation, carburization and other harmful effects of high temperature exposure. For services requiring optimum creep and rupture properties, use Incoloy 800H or 800 HT. The high content of nickel and chromium in the alloy also provides good corrosion resistance.

Stainless steel 316L elbows are used to divert pipes or turn them in another direction. It provides high creep and excellent fracture stress resistance at higher temperatures. They are said to be ideal for manufacturing or forming applications.

316 stainless steel has a similar chemical composition to 304, but also contains molybdenum. This addition makes it more resistant to corrosion. Like 304, the 316 formulation does not require post weld annealing. 316L stainless steel is almost the same as 316. The only difference is the carbon content. The low carbon content of 316L imparts better corrosion resistance than 316. 316L does not require post weld annealing.
