Sometimes called a blanking flange; use to blank off pipelines, valves, and pumps, or as an inspection cover. Suitable for use with Schedule 40 or 80 stainless steel pipe, in applications with air, water, natural gas, and steam.

The thermal conductivity of ASTM B466 Cupro Nickel 70/30 seamless pipe is also very good. However, if a comparison is made between copper and alloys, both the thermal and electrical conductivity of the copper-nickel 70/30 tube decrease.

The outstanding oxidation resistance of HASTELLOY X pipe bend is illustrated below. Tests were conducted by exposing samples to dry air at 2000 Deg. F. and to dry air pressurized to 300 psi at 1750 Deg. F.

In strong oxidizing solutions like hot, concentrated nitric acid, 600 has poor resistance.

AL-6XN alloy is easy to weld using similar parameters as Type 316L stainless steel, including travel speed (IPM) and weld current. It is common to use a weld insert ring for additional alloying when orbital or manual welding in the field.

SAE 304 stainless steel is the most common stainless steel. The steel contains both chromium (between 18% and 20%) and nickel (between 8% and 10.5%)[1] metals as the main non-iron constituents. It is an austenitic stainless steel. It is less electrically and thermally conductive than carbon steel. It is magnetic, but less magnetic than steel. It has a higher corrosion resistance than regular steel and is widely used because of the ease in which it is formed into various shapes.[1]

B7 threaded studs and short head bolts are readily available in the market. B7 grade bolts are often used for pipe flange connections. These bolts are usually sold in a normal bare metal finish, but are usually hot-dip galvanized, galvanized, Xylan coated, PTFE coated, or otherwise treated with a corrosion resistant coating.

Monel 400 (UNS N04400) is a nickel-copper alloy with optimum high strength and corrosion resistance. It is widely used in a variety of severe acidic and alkaline environments. Monel is also used in pipes.

The flange is second most used joining method after selding. Flanges are used when joints need dismantling. It provides flexibility for maintenance. Flange connects the pipe with various equipment and valves. Breakup flanges are added in the pipeline system if regular maintenance in required during plant operation.
A flanged joint is composed of three separate and independent although interrdlated components; the flanges, the gaskets, and the bolting; which are assembled by yet another influence, the fitter. Special controls are required in the selection and application of all there elements to attain a joint, which has acceptable leak tightness.
A flange is a protruded ridge, lip or rim, either external or internal, that serves to increase strength (as the flange of an iron beam such as an I-beam or a T-beam); for easy attachment/transfer of contact force with another object (as the flange on the end of a pipe, steam cylinder, etc., or on the lens mount of a camera); or for stabilizing and guiding the movements of a machine or its parts (as the inside flange of a rail car or tram wheel, which keep the wheels from running off the rails). The term “flange” is also used for a kind of tool used to form flanges.

C22 has a high chromium content and is more resistant to oxidation than C-276 alloy.

Inconel is an austenitic superalloy whose main alloying materials are nickel and chromium. The main feature of these alloy 600 screws is their enhanced corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance. The increased tensile strength of Inconel 600 is enhanced by solid solution strengthening.
